Lightsplit Terms of Use

The Service: Lightsplit is a platform designed to help people manage shared expenses and group finances in an organized way. It provides tools for tracking balances, calculating who owes whom, and simplifying group settlements.

Eligibility: You must be at least 13 years old to use Lightsplit. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your country or region.

Account Registration: You may register using third-party authentication providers like Google, Apple, or LINE. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for any activity under your account.

Paid Subscriptions: Lightsplit Premium is an optional monthly or annual subscription that unlocks additional features and functionality within the app. When you subscribe inside our iOS or Android app, payment is processed through Apple App Store In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing. When you subscribe on our website, payment is processed through Paddle. Pricing and features may vary depending on platform, country, promotion, or local regulations, and the subscription title, length, and price are shown to you on the purchase screen before you confirm.

Automatic renewal: Lightsplit Premium is an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple App Store, Google Play, or Paddle account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same period at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Managing and canceling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time:

• iOS: through the subscription settings of your Apple Account
• Android: through the subscription settings in Google Play
• Website (Paddle): through your Lightsplit account settings or the link in your Paddle receipt email

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the current paid period.

Refunds: For subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, billing and refunds are handled by Apple or Google and are subject to their policies, not Lightsplit. Refund requests for these purchases must be made directly to Apple or Google through their respective support channels. For purchases made on our website through Paddle, payments are generally non-refundable, but you may contact us at [email protected] and we will review such requests on a case-by-case basis. Access to Lightsplit Premium may be suspended for failed or overdue payments.

One-Time and Lifetime Purchases:Lightsplit may offer a one-time “Lifetime” purchase that unlocks Premium features without a recurring subscription. This is a non-consumable in-app purchase on iOS (Apple App Store), a one-time product on Android (Google Play), or a single payment through Paddle on our website. You are charged once at the time of purchase, and it does not automatically renew.

Meaning of “Lifetime”: “Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of the Lightsplit Premium product, meaning for as long as Lightsplit continues to operate and offer the app and the relevant features. It does not refer to the natural lifetime of the purchaser, and it does not guarantee that the Service, or any particular feature, will remain available indefinitely. A Lifetime purchase covers the Premium features available at the time of purchase; we do not guarantee that it will include features introduced in future major versions or offered as separate products.

Non-refundable and non-transferable: Except as required by the Apple App Store or Google Play refund policies, or by applicable non-excludable consumer protection law, a Lifetime purchase is generally non-refundable. A Lifetime purchase is tied to the purchasing account and is non-transferable to another account.

Apple App Store Users: If you download Lightsplit from the Apple App Store, your license to use the iOS app is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These Terms continue to apply to your Lightsplit account and to your use of the rest of the Service, including our website, LINE Bot, and Telegram Bot.

Apple App Store and Google Play Additional Terms: If you download Lightsplit from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following also applies:

• These Terms are an agreement between you and Lightsplit only, not with Apple or Google. Lightsplit, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Your use of the app must comply with the applicable App Store Terms of Service or Google Play Terms of Service.
• Apple and Google have no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
• To the extent permitted by law, any product warranty, product liability, and claims that the app infringes intellectual property rights are the responsibility of Lightsplit, not Apple or Google.
• Apple and its subsidiaries, and Google, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and that you are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.

Acceptable Use: You agree to use Lightsplit lawfully and respectfully. You may not:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe the rights of others
• Access accounts or data that do not belong to you
• Interfere with Lightsplit's performance or security
• Copy, reverse-engineer, or misuse any part of the Service

User Content: The data you input into the Service, such as group names, notes, images and entries, is associated with your account and may be used by Lightsplit to operate and improve the Service. You understand that Lightsplit does not claim ownership of such content, but may retain and process it as needed to deliver its functionality. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Intellectual Property: All Lightsplit branding, software, content, and design elements are protected by intellectual property laws and belong to Lightsplit or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any part of the Service without permission.

Termination: You may stop using Lightsplit at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service. Upon termination, your data may be deleted in accordance with our policies.

Disclaimer:The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no guarantees about uptime, security, or performance. Use of the Service is at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability: Under no circumstances will Lightsplit be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages (including but not limited to emotional distress, loss of data, or loss of profits) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Under no circumstances shall Lightsplit be liable to you for any amount in connection with services rendered through the platform.

Privacy: Your use of Lightsplit is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Jurisdiction: These Terms are governed by the laws of Taipei, Taiwan. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Taipei.
